John E. McMaugh, 84, of Mammoth Springs Road, Wynantskill, passed away suddenly on Friday, April 29, 2022 at the Albany Medical Center after being stricken at home. Born in Plattsburgh, John was the son of the late Arthur and Veronica Wyrocki McMaugh and the beloved husband of Linda Meracle McMaugh. John grew up in Albany and attended the Albany Schools. In 1955 John enlisted in the Navy and served until 1958 when he was Honorably Discharged. John returned home where he learned the electrical trade and was an electrician his entire working career, working for area electrical companies. John moved to Rensselaer County in 1964 and had lived in his home since 1974. John enjoyed retirement with his family, his dogs and the racino. John loved traveling to the beaches of the East coast and visiting Hawaii, especially Pearl Harbor. He was a beloved brother-in-law and greatly enjoyed time spent with his nephew Peter Libertucci. John was the brother of the late Trudy and Jennie. He was deeply loved by his family and will be greatly missed. Survivors in addition to his wife include his daughters Kathleen McMaugh (Doug Groenewald) and Kimberly McMaugh, his grandchildren Aaron Mosher (Kendyl Jones) and Jordan Mosher (Sam DeMio) his great grandson Grant and many nieces and nephews.
