Averill Park- Linda J. Hill, 70, of Eastview Road, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 22, 2022 with her loving family by her side.  Born on March 12, 1952 in Troy, Linda was the daughter of the late Morell and June Brookman Kinney and the beloved wife of 37 years to John W. Hill. Linda was a lifelong resident of the Averill Park area, was a 1970 graduate of the Averill Park High School and received her BA from SUNY Oswego. Linda was an Economic Development Professional for thirty-two years in the Capital region. Linda was with the Rensselaer County Office of Economic Development and Planning Dept. from 1979-1986 and was director of the Regional Education Center for Economic Development, January 1986-1992 when she joined Niagara Mohawk (National Grid) as the lead Development Representative retiring in 2014. In 2001, Linda was named the Economic Developer of the year by the New York State Economic Development Council. In part that award was for the consistent superior performance and outstanding service to her employer, the Capital Region and the economic agencies in the region. Linda had dedication, tenacity and a “can do” attitude which made her a success in attracting and growing business and investment in the region. She was a promoter and the driving force behind the New York Loves Nanotech consortium whose goal was to grow New York’s high – tech corridor (Global Foundries) by attracting investment. She was a team player and respected for her quality of work and her willingness to share her time and energy for the betterment of their organization and themselves personally.  Her hard work and foresight were also recognized by her peers by receiving the awards for Exemplary Service from the Albany-Colonie Chamber of Commerce in 2006.
Linda was a member of the Salem United Methodist Church in West Sand Lake, and was the past President of the Methodist Sunday School Association of Troy and Vicinity. Linda loved growing up on Crooked Lake and still loved to be at her camp at Methodist Farm, spending many days on Crooked Lake with friends and family and enjoying the boat.
Her pride and love were for her family which include the love of her life John, her beloved and devoted daughters Lauren (David) Cross of Selkirk, Lindsey (Jeremey) Hill of Troy, and step daughter Kristin (Eric) Burns of Ravena, her grandsons Austin C. and Brycen J. Burns, Grant T. and Luke J. Cross and her dear siblings Barbara (John) Fogg of Scotia, Glenn Kinney of Westerlo and David Kinney of Cohoes; as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to a Celebration of Linda’s Life 11-3 pm on Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at the Old Daley on Crooked Lake 2339 NY 43 Averill Park, NY, 12018 .
In lieu of flowers, Linda’s family request donations in her honor and memory be made to Methodist Sunday School Assoc. (MSSA) PO Box 645 Averill Park, NY 12018
