Averill Park-On August 29th, 2021 Lois Shaw Thomas peacefully passed away at her home at the age of 93. She was the oldest child of the late Milton and Florence Shaw of Averill Park, NY. At the age of nineteen, Lois married Thomas Patrick Thomas and the two resided in the Thomas family home their entire marriage of 54 years.
Lois worked several years at Montgomery Wards before the birth of her two daughters. She was a dedicated stay at home mother and remarkable baker and was famous for her pies and baked goods. She took great pride and joy in landscaping the family home with beautiful flowers and shrubbery. Once her daughters grew older she worked at the NYS Department of Civil Service where she retired after twenty years of service.
Lois is predeceased by her husband, Thomas Patrick Thomas, of Averill Park, NY. Lois is survived by her daughters, Tracy Thomas Ferguson (partner Richard Deon) and Michele Thomas. In addition, she is survived by her loving sister Janice Shaw Martin and her two grandchildren, Kelly Ferguson and Patrick Ferguson (Jessica) as well as several nieces and nephews and her special cat, Oreo.
Funeral Service 10:30 am on Friday, September 3, 2021 at the Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel 2691 NY 43 at Glass Lake Averill Park.
Relatives and friends are invited and may also call 5-7 pm on Thursday, September 2nd at the Funeral Chapel.
The family request donations to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society 3 Oakland Ave. Menands, NY 12204 or the Community Hospice Gift Processing 310 So. Manning Blvd. Albany, NY 12208 in memory of Lois.
