Averill Park- Louis J. McGovern, 94, of Old Rte. 66 died on Saturday, June 25, 2022 at the Slate Valley Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Granville, NY after a short illness. Born in Troy and a longtime resident of Green Island, Lou was the son of the late William and Jennie Smith McGovern. Lou had resided in Green Island and had served in the Army from early 1946- 1947. He had moved to Averill Park over 20 years ago. Lou had worked as a baker’s helper at Prediger’s Bakery in Green Island for most of his working career.
Lou was the longtime companion of the late Marilyn Geerholt
Survivors include his caregivers and friends the Geerholt family and Kimberly Sullivan.
