North Greenbush- Madeline L. VanBuren, 91, of Bloomingrove Senior Housing passed away on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at St. Peter’s Hospice Inn surrounded by her family. Born and raised in Troy Madeline was the daughter of the late Joseph and Madeline DeSina House and the beloved wife of the late Neil VanBuren Sr. After her marriage Madeline resided in Poestenkill 1960-1974 where her husband was the Ranger in charge of Camp Rotary, then lived in Sand Lake 1974-1978 before moving to the Alps Town of Nassau where she and her husband owned Gram’s Place until his passing in 1993. Madeline was one of the original tenants of the Bloomingrove Senior Housing in 1994 where she enjoyed helping the other residence with their many needs. Madeline was a former member of the Poestenkill Hills Home Bureau and was also involved in the Boy Scouts. Madeline enjoyed her shopping trips especially to Boscov’s.
Madeline was the mother of the late Madeline VanBuren, grandmother of the late Jason DiBello and sister of the late Jean Folger, Margaret Powell, Helen Kugler and Joseph House.
The matriarch of five generations, survivors include her children Rebecca Cushing of the Alps, Sandra DiBello of Troy, Neil W. VanBuren Jr. of Averill Park, Nancy Kehn of East Chatham and Heidi Pontari of Stephentown, her sister Carol Cox of Brunswick, 12 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and a great great grandson.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call 1-3:30 pm on Sunday, November 19, 2023 at the Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel 2691 NY 43 at Glass Lake Averill Park followed by a service at 3:30.
A graveside service will be held 11am on Monday, November 20 at Oakwood Cemetery Troy. Please meet at 10:45 at the Oakwood Ave. Entrance.
Madeline’s family wishes to thank the staff at the Hospice Inn for the care and compassion given to Madeline while she was in their care.
