Averill Park- Martin J. Pelcher, 58, of Edgewood Drive died suddenly on Sunday, May 17, 2015 at Samaritan Hospital in Troy. Born in Troy, Marty was the son of the late Joseph W. and Trudy Comeau Pelcher and the beloved husband of Helen Kielb Pelcher. Marty grew up in Cohoes and was a graduate of the Cohoes High School Class of 1975. He was a lifelong athlete and had played high school football. Marty had received his Bachelors Degree in Architectural Engineering from Florida A&M. Marty had worked for the NYS Office of General Services for over 30 years where he had been a Construction Manager. He was an avid hiker, gardener, and excellent cook, comedian, smoked his own meats, was the family dog whisperer and enjoyed his many Golden Retrievers over the years. The most important part of Marty’s life was to be the loving husband, father and brother that he was. He was an all around nurturing man who took care of people and was there for everybody. Survivors in addition to his wife include his children Tara, Farrell and Luke Pelcher all of Averill Park, his siblings Suzanne Pelcher of Latham, Chris (David) Wilber of East Greenbush, Pamela (Timothy) Forsythe of Oneonta, Nancy Pelcher of Menands, Joseph (Marjorie) Pelcher of Averill Park, Daniel (Sharon) Pelcher of Schenectady, Jean (Russell) Coonradt of Jay, NY, Trudy (the late Robert) Parzych of Latham, Michael (Kathy) Pelcher of Rockford, Ill and Colleen (the late Thomas) Jess of Scotia along with several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Thursday 10 am at St. Henry’s Church 39 Old Rte. 66 Averill Park where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at the CHURCH on Wednesday 3-7 p.m. Interment St. Henry’s Cemetery. If desired the family suggests donations in memory of Martin J.
