Averill Park- Mary F. Chor, 83, of Cathlie Drive died on Monday, July 18, 2016 at the Van Rensselaer Manor after an extended illness with her daughter at her side. Mary was born in Boston, MA and was the daughter of the late Harry and Mary Reid. Mary had moved to Brockton MA. In 1963 where she raised her family. Mary was employed with John Hancock as an insurance agent. She was also employed with Bank Boston where she was a Customer Care Specialist. She retired from the bank in 1999 and moved to Averill Park in 2000, where she resided with her daughter and son in law. Mary had a passion for gardening, was an avid reader, and enjoyed Bingo. While in the area Mary was a communicant of St. Henry’s Church in Averill Park.
Mary was the former wife of the late Richard G. Thomas Sr., sister of the late Dorothy Dean, William, Harry (Janet), Robert and Frank Reid.
Survivors include her son Richard G. (Cindy) Thomas Jr. of Tacoma, WA, her daughter Marybeth (Michael) Steinburg of Averill Park, her sisters- Betty Anne (William) Hunt and Peggy (James) Quinn both of Weymouth, MA. her grandchildren Nicole and Jacob Steinburg and Lauren Thomas as well as several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to call 9:30 – 11 a.m. at St. Henry’s Church 39 Old Rte. 66 Averill Park on Saturday, August 20, 2016 followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m.
If desired the family suggest donations in memory of Mary F. Chor may be made to the Patient Activities Fund at Van Rensselaer Manor 85 Bloomingrove Drive Troy, NY 12180.
