Matthew S. King

Stephentown- Matthew S. King, 60, of Gentile Road passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, May 21, 2026 at the Samaritan Hospital after a short illness. Born in Hudson, NY, Matthew was the son of Robert E. King Sr. and Terry Horton King of Hoags Corners. Matthew resided in Chatham until 1977 when the family moved to Hoags Corners. He was a 1984 graduate of the Averill Park High School where he was on the football team. Matthew worked for Samaritan Hospital in Troy for 25 years in the Environmental Services Dept. prior to his retirement. He had resided in Stephentown since 1995 and enjoyed hunting, fishing, video games and trips to Maine. He enjoyed the companionship of his dogs and cats.

Matthew was the brother of the late Andrew King.

Survivors in addition to his mom and dad include his longtime companion Lisa Hamilton of Stephentown, his brother Robert E. (Christine) King Jr. of Watervliet, nieces Ashley (Brandon) Ballou and Stephanie King (Daniel) and grandnieces Olivia and Violet.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
