Wynantskill - Matthew J. Mardon, 34, of Marion Ave. tragically passed away on Tuesday, September 30, 2025. Born in Niskayuna, Matthew was the beloved son of Timothy J. Mardon and Susan Guilz-Mardon (Donald), both of Averill Park. Matthew was raised in Averill Park and was educated in the Averill Park Schools, graduating in 2009. Matthew attended Siena College where he received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Accounting. At the time of his passing, he worked for the NYS Department of Health where he was an Accountant, CPA.
Matt was passionate about sports. His favorite teams were the NY Rangers, NY Giants, and the NY Yankees. Together with his dad, they took many trips to attend their favorite team’s games. Matt’s favorite soccer team was Arsenal, whom he saw play in London several times with his mom Susan and his brother Dan. Matthew was involved with the Empire State League where he played both Kickball and Volleyball. He also enjoyed recreational soccer and had standing weekly, “FIFA-Friday” online soccer games with his friends.
Matthew was very intelligent. Throughout school he was included in the “gifted and talented” group of students and graduated from high school with honors. He earned his Bachelor’s degree cum laude, an honor reserved for top performing students. He then went on to earn his Master’s degree, completing that in one year.
He then quickly passed all four sections of the CPA (Certified Public Accountant) exam. He had a great mind for numbers, statistics, and strategies, and we always put him charge of figuring out the tip and tab on the numerous social outings.
Matt recently adopted an abused kitten from Latham Animal Hospital named Peanut. Matt nurtured Peanut back to health and socialized her with family and friends.
Survivors in addition to his mom and dad include his brother Daniel (Rachel) Mardon of Averill Park, his grandmothers Bernadette Mardon of Averill Park and Jane Guilz of Rotterdam, along with many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Matthew was predeceased by his grandfathers, Arthur Mardon and Roland Guilz, and his cousin Shereen Massoud.
Matt cherished spending time with his friends and family and was never afraid to show his love for them. As the life of the party, he was deeply loved in return. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him and his loss will be felt forever.
