West Sand Lake- Michael H.”Cherry Picker” Coughtry, 62, of Grange Road died on Wednesday April 2, 2014 at his residence after a long illness. Born in Troy Michael was the son of the late James Coughtry and Margaret Mullaney (Carmen) Fruscio of Green Island and husband of Patricia Brundige Coughtry. Michael grew up and lived in Grafton until 1969 when he served in the Army during Vietnam. After his service duty he had lived in Utah, California and Mississippi before returning to the area in 1991. He had worked as a truck driver for area firms the last being Gallivan Inc. in Troy before the onset of his illness. Michael enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, fishing, being on his computor and spending time with his grandsons. Michael was a yearly participant in the annual Toys for Tots motorcycle run and gained much enjoyment doing that. Michael was a NASCAR fan and enjoyed his time camping with family. Michael was the stepfather of the late Shayne LaVoie, stepson of the late Ruth Coughtry and friend of the late Marty Mathusa. Survivors in addition to his wife include his children Yvonne (William) Coughtry Weis of Poestenkill, Bobbi (Michael) LaVoie DeFilippis of Pittstown and Lester LaVoie of Florida, his sister Denise Hartwell of New York, and his grandsons Tyler, Eric, Colton, Joshua and Jayson along with several half brothers and sisters. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel 2691 NY 43 at Glass Lake Averill Park on Sunday 2-3 p.m. followed by a Memorial Service at 3 p.m. If desired the family suggest donations in memory of Michael H.
