Sand Lake - Miriam I. Reardon, 82, of Taborton Road entered into eternal rest on Saturday, December 3, 2016 surrounded by her loving family at her residence.
Born in Poestenkill, Miriam was the daughter of the late Alvin H. and Dorothy Inglis Cipperly. Miriam was a 1953 graduate of the Averill Park High School and on September 3, 1955 she married her husband John P. “Jack” Reardon Jr. at St. Henry’s Church in Averill Park. Miriam had met Jack on a blind date at the Knotty Pine Tavern in Troy. Miriam was a devoted wife for 48 years until his passing in 2003.
Jack and Miriam spent the first 21 years of marriage in the United States Air Force and traveled the world extensively with tours in Guam where son John was born, Nebraska, Italy where daughter Eileen was born, Germany were son Michael was born, Maryland where son Tim was born and lastly, Florida. Miriam maintained the family’s home while Jack did tours in Korea and Alaska. Upon Jack’s retirement in 1971 from MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, FL., the family returned home to Taborton Mountain in Sand Lake, building a home across the road from where Miriam was raised as a young girl.
Miriam was a sweet, kind and loving mother who always put the needs of her family first. As the center of a large family, she was loved and cherished by many. She enjoyed sharing stories about her grandson’s and their accomplishments. Not only was she a fantastic cook, but also a talented seamstress having made several wedding gowns, prom dresses, custom drapes and reupholstering many pieces of fine furniture. Miriam designed and sewed the first teddy bears for the Vermont Teddy Bear Co. and was a seamstress for the former Cramer’s Armory in Cohoes until her retirement in 1992. Following her retirement, Jack and she along with Michael traveled extensively throughout the United States.
Miriam was the sister of the late Alvin R. Cipperly, Jeanne B. Lajeunesse, Daniel C. and Peter D. Cipperly.
Survivors include her devoted loving children John (Sandra) Reardon of Troy, Eileen (Blaine) Berner of Clifton Park, Michael Reardon of Troy and Timothy (Dona) Reardon of Averill Park, her beloved grandsons Chad (Christie) Berner of Hoboken, NJ, Patrick (Liana) Reardon of Houston, TX, Dr. Jared Reardon, DDS of York, PA, Garett and Brian Reardon of Averill Park, her sisters Dorothy Biittig and Gayle M. Rokjer of Melbourne, Fl, Elizabeth Madigan of Valley Falls and her brother Wm. Joseph Cipperly of West Palm Beach, Fl.
Funeral Service Wednesday, December 7, 2016, 11 a.m. at St. Henry’s Church 39 Old Rte. 66 Averill Park where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered with burial at the Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery following the service.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the CHURCH on Tuesday, December 6, 4-7 p.m.
Due to floral restrictions at the cemetery the family requests donations in memory of Miriam I. Reardon may be made to the ARC of Rensselaer County, 79 102nd St., Troy, NY 12180, the Town of Sand Veterans Memorial Park, 171 Biittig Road, Averill Park, NY 12018 or the Community Hospice  c/o St. Peters Hospital Foundation 310 So. Manning Blvd. Albany, NY 12208.
