Poestenkill- Nancy L. Young, 77, a longtime resident of Plank Road died unexpectedly on Friday, January 20, 2017 at the Eddy Village Green in Cohoes. Born in Troy, Nancy was the daughter of the late Walter and Helen Watson and was the wife of the late Robert R. Young. Nancy grew up in Lansingburgh, was a graduate of Troy High School and moved to Poestenkill in 1957 after her marriage. Nancy was a homemaker, a longtime member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Poestenkill, where she sang in the choir, served on the church council, was a member of the Ladies Aid, and served as Sunday School teacher and superintendent.
Nancy worked with the late Peg Mitchell for many years at the Evangelical Lutheran Church Pre School.
Nancy was a 4-H leader, enjoyed baking, tole painting and was a talented seamstress. Nancy enjoyed family vacationing at the ocean and spending time with her family.
Nancy’s family wishes to thank the staff at Millview Adult Home, the Eddy Village Green #6 for the care and compassion given to Nancy.
Survivors include her children Debra Carpenter, Linda (David) Primeau and Robert (Natalie) Young Jr. all of Poestenkill, her grandchildren John Carpenter Jr., Kristy and Ashley Primeau, Alexa (Josh) Gwynn and Robert Young III and her great grandchildren Halle Carpenter and Roman Gwynn. She is also survived by her brothers Walter (Mary) Watson, John (Helen) Watson, Richard (Sharon) Watson and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services were private from the Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel 2691 NY 43 Averill Park, NY.
Interment Brookside Cemetery , Barbersville.
