Averill Park- Nelson T. Williams, 90, a longtime resident of Averill Park, died on Friday February 15, 2013 at Cranesville Place Nursing Home in Dalton, MA after a long illness. Born in Scranton, PA. Nelson was the son of the late David W. and Laura G. Parry Williams and husband of the late Edith Woolcock Williams. Nelson was raised in Scranton and had moved to New York while working for the Delaware & Hudson Railroad. Nelson's job moved him to many areas of the state while holding various positions. He and his family moved to the Averill Park area in 1973 where he worked in Albany. At the time of his retirement he was an Assistant to the Vice President of Operations. Nelson served in the Army during WW II and was Honorably Discharged with the Rank of 2nd Lieutenant. Nelson was a member of the Salem United Methodist Church in West Sand Lake, the Sgt. Walter Adams American Legion Post in Averill Park, the Adirondack Mountain Club and Trout Unlimited. Survivors include his sons Glynne D. Williams of Northampton, MA and Trefor (Nancy) Williams of Princeton, NJ, a sister Esther Williams of Scranton.
Funeral Service Wednesday 10 a.m. at the Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel 2691 NY 43 at Glass Lake Averill Park.Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at the funeral chapel on Tuesday 4-7p.m.Interment Elmwood Cemetery West Sand Lake, NY.
