Troy- Olive D. Frank, 97, of Eddy Heritage House Nursing Center a longtime resident of Poestenkill, passed away on Sunday, May 27, 2018 after a long illness. Born in Poestenkill, Olive was the daughter of the late Ward and Eva Ives Clickner and wife of the late Kenneth Cole, Charles Daniels and Albert Frank.
Olive was a 1938 graduate of Troy High and went on to Troy Business School. She was very active in the local 4-H Club as a girl. Being from a farm family she showed her calves and heifers at the local fairs receiving 1st place in showmanship for several years. Also, an accomplished seamstress she received several 1st place awards for clothing she had made culminating by representing Rensselaer Co. at the NYS Fair and from there representing NY at the National 4-H Club Congress in Chicago, receiving 1st Place at each. After graduation Olive worked for John L. Thompson in Troy until she married Kenneth Cole. Later she worked at the Poestenkill Post Office, NYS Ag. & Markets and retired in 1976 from the NYS Teachers Retirement System.
Olive loved to travel and had been across the US, to Alaska, Hawaii, British Isles, Mexico, Barbados and Australia. She also loved to play cards and would play weekly with a group of local friends. She also enjoyed cross-word puzzles and knitting sweaters for herself and family.
Survivors include her daughter Virginia and son in law David Catlin, her grandchildren Brett (Sandra) Catlin of Poestenkill, Tara (Jason) Heffner of Celina, TX, Corey (Valerie) Catlin of Poestenkill and Wade (Stephanie) Catlin of Prosper, TX; her greatgrandchildren Kirk, Kodi, Logan, Kerissa, Teigan, Colin, William, Jacob Catlin, Samantha, and Adam Heffner, great great grandchildren Brayden Wagner and Greylen Catlin and her nieces Linda and Cathy Sagendorf. Olive was the sister of the late Alice Sagendorf.
