East Aurora - Paul Henry Goebel, 64, passed away Thursday, December 10, 2020, East Aurora, Erie County, NY.
He was born on November 7, 1956 in Albany and was the first-born child to the late Henry Goebel, Jr. and Alice Goewey Goebel who died on Thursday, December 17, 2020.
Paul graduated from Averill Park Central High School, Class of 1975. He attended SUNY Cobleskill Ag and Tech and Hudson Valley Community College. He worked for various businesses around the Capital Region and for the Town of Bethlehem Highway Department. After moving to Western NY, he was a bus driver for the Cassadaga Valley and Holland School Districts. Being a very personable person, students would remember him years later when they ran into him.
Growing up he was an active member of the Happy Clovers 4-H Club, which was started in 1938 by his late Grandmother Christina Goewey, also Rensselaer County 4-H activities and exhibiting his Polled Herefords at the Schaghticoke Fair. He was a life member of the Saratoga Battle Chapter Sons of the American Revolution and the Dutch Settlers Society of Albany.
Paul loved cheering on his children at their soccer games, tennis matches, and track meets over the years. He was also a fan of the Buffalo Bills football, Buffalo Sabers hockey, and New York Mets baseball teams.
Survivors include special friend Alberta Krejci; his two sons and their wives Michael P. and Lindsay S. Goebel, Schodack, NY; and Steven E. and Jessica K. Goebel, Harrisburg, PA; a daughter Linnea C. Goebel, Englewood, CO; and a cherished grandson Liam C. Goebel, Harrisburg, PA; two brothers and wives Col. (Ret.) Peter K. and Terri Lynn M. Goebel, North Nassau, NY; and Jonathan E. and Ruth L. S. Goebel, North Nassau, NY; a sister and husband Elizabeth L.G. and Jeffrey S. Mosher, Little Falls, NY. Also, three nephews Joshua P. and Rebekah B. Goebel, Decatur, GA; David B. Goebel, Decatur, GA; and Philip J. Mosher, Little Falls, NY; and four nieces Katharine D. Goebel, Decatur, GA; Abigail C. Mosher, Little Falls, NY; Anna M. and Martha K. Goebel, North Nassau, NY; great niece Cilicia J. Goebel, Decatur, GA; aunt Marion G. Wells, North Nassau, NY; and many cousins.
Paul was predeceased by his father Henry Goebel, Jr., December 7, 2009; grandparents William F. Goewey, Sr., December 20, 1971; Christina F. E. Goewey, June 19, 1978; Henry Goebel, Sr., February 6, 1946, and Cora E. Goebel, January 12, 1970; uncles Edward T. Goebel, November 25, 1994; Warren E. Wells, December 6, 2019; William F. Goewey, Jr., March 21, 2017; and aunt Doris H. J. Goewey, September 10, 1999.
Services will be held in the spring.
