Sand Lake – Paul E. Mardon, 82, of Mosher Road passed away at his residence on Monday, January 1, 2024.

Born in Yonkers, N.Y., Paul was the son of Arthur L., Sr. and Mildred Laun Mardon.  Paul resided in Sand Lake for most of his life and was a graduate of Averill Park High School.  After graduating, Paul served in the United States Air Force and was Honorably Discharged in 1963.  Paul had a long career in the banking industry working for State Bank of Albany and Bank of America, until he retired in 1996.  He remained friends with many coworkers and enjoyed meeting them for lunch after retiring.

Paul was a lifelong communicant of St. Henry’s Parish in Averill Park serving as an Usher, Eucharistic Minister, and bookkeeper. Paul was a Fourth-Degree member of the Knights of Columbus.  He was a past member of the Sand Lake Kiwanis.  Paul was a devoted volunteer at Evergreen Commons for many years, providing joy and comfort to the residents there.  Paul enjoyed owning horses, spending time at his “bungalow” on the front porch, and the annual family vacations to Cape Cod.  He also owned and loved several VW Beetles.  Carrying on his parents’ family tradition, Paul hosted countless holiday picnics where all were welcome.  His greatest joy was spending time with family and friends.  To Paul, everyone was family, and family was everything.

In addition to his parents, Paul was predeceased by his sister Joan (late Willis) Fearnley, and his brother Arthur L. Mardon, Jr.

Survivors include his brother David P. (Sharon) Mardon of Sand Lake, his sister-in-law Bernadette Mardon of Averill Park, and several nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews and great-grand nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to call between 10-11am on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at St. Henry’s Church, 39 Old Route 66, Averill Park.  A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 11am.  Interment to follow at St. Henry’s Cemetery.

Donations in memory of Paul may be made to St. Henry’s Parish, P.O. Box 550, Averill Park, N.Y. 12018, or The Salvation Army of Albany, 20 South Ferry Street, Albany, N.Y. 12202.
