Poestenkill-Philip H. Walters, 76, of Columbia Hill Rd. died on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at the Community Hospice at St,. Mary's Hospital in Troy after a long illness. Born in Poestenkill, Phil was the son of the late Violet Kaiser Walters and the husband of Shirley J. Morelli Walters. Phil was a lifelong resident of Poestenkill and was the owner of Phil's Auto Service. Years ago Phil built and drove race cars at area Speedways including Rt. 66 Speedway, Albany-Saratoga and Lebanon Valley. He had served in the New York National Guard and the Army Reserves and was a member of the Poestenkill Fire Co. Phil enjoyed hunting, fishing, country music and auto racing. Philip was the brother of the late Stephen Walters. Survivors in addition to his wife include his son, Philip (Cathy) Walters Jr.of Georgia; his daughters, Debra Harris of Poestenkill, Diane Bissell of Round Lake and Michelle Lutz of Loudonville; his brother, Walter Walters of Petersburg; his sisters, Carol Saunders of Berlin and Susan Pelkey of Fort Edward; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral Thursday 7 p.m. at the Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel, 2691 NY 43 at Glass Lake, Averill Park. Relatives and Friends are invited and may call at the funeral chapel on Thursday 4-7 p.m. prior to the service.
