Speigletown- Raymond A. “Buck” Brown 77, of Speigletown Road, died suddenly at his residence on Thursday, August 1, 2013. Born in Sand Lake, Buck was the devoted son of Alma Goyer Brown of Sand Lake and the late Loren N. Brown and was the beloved husband of the late Sonya Woitovich Brown. Buck was raised in the Taborton area of Sand Lake and was a graduate of the Averill Park High School class of 1954. Buck served in the Navy from 1955-1957. Ray and Sonya had resided in Speigletown since 1969. He had retired from the Norton Company in Watervliet where he was a papermaker. His entire working career was at the Norton Co. He had also served as the union president. Buck was a lifelong member of the Zion’s United Church of Christ in Taborton and he was devoted in taking care of his wife during her illness. Ray was the brother of the late Loren Brown Jr. and Lloyd N. Brown. Survivors in addition to his mother include his sons John L. (Deborah) Brown of Lansdale, PA and Marc T. (Leanne) Brown of Bear, DE. His grandchildren Jakob and Tara Brown, Andrew (Meredith) Brown and Caroline (Ryan) Bergh and his great granddaughter Morgan Paige Brown. Funeral Tuesday 7 p.m. at the Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel 2691 NY 43 at Glass Lake Averill Park, NY. Relatives and Friends are invited and may also call at the chapel on Tuesday 4-7 p.m. prior to the service. An Interment Service will be held at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery on Wednesday 10:30 a.m. Family and friends will meet at the entrance and process in. The family requests donations in memory of Raymond A.
