​Averill Park- Raymond L. Wood, 74, of Burden Lake Road died on Thursday, September 2, 2021 at his residence after a long illness. Born in Oneonta, NY, Raymond was a son of the late Clyde L. and Madeline Keator Wood and husband of the late Karen Kaiser Wood. Raymond moved to the Averill Park area in 1958. He had worked for the Watervliet Arsenal for 29 years where he had been an Assembler and had retired in 1997.Raymond was a past member of the Averill Park-Sand Lake Fire Dept., a member of the Sand Lake Baptist Church, a life member of the East Worcester Fish & Game Club, and bowled on the Cohoes Bowling League. Raymond enjoyed hunting, fishing and the Casinos.
Survivors include his brothers Alvin R. Wood of Averill Park and Roger (Donna) Wood of West Sand Lake, his sister Patricia Sellie of Castleton and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call 4-6:30 on Friday September 10 at the Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel 2691 NY 43 at Glass Lake Averill Park followed by a service at 6:30.
Ray and Karen will be buried in the Davenport Cemetery, Davenport, NY at a later date.
The family request donations in memory of Raymond L. Wood may be made to the Community Hospice Foundation, Gift Processing, 310 So. Manning Blvd. Albany, NY 12208 or the Sand Lake Ambulance PO Box 222 West Sand Lake, NY 12196.
