Averill Park- Richard G. “Rick” Palmer, 58, of 2nd Dyke Road, peacefully passed away on Wednesday August 28, 2013 at the Community Hospice at St. Mary’s Hospital in Troy after a short illness. Born in Albany Rick was the son of Mary B. Quinn Palmer of St. Peters Beach, Fl. and the late Robert C. Palmer. Rick had resided in Averill Park for the past 50 years and previously lived in Rensselaer. Rick’s working career included Seaboard Milling Corp (Cargill), Mears & Dutton, operator of the Averill Park Sunoco, the Town of Sand Lake, owner /operator of LMP Trucking and most recently EJP Inc. in Averill Park. Rick enjoyed NASCAR, boating and working on his cars.Rick was predeceased by his brother Robert W. Palmer and his former wife Colleen M. Hannigan Secor. Survivors in addition to his mother include his wife Lynne M. Pryor Palmer, his son Richard R. “Rob” Palmer of Averill Park, his sister Kathleen (Kenneth) Wilcox of Fla., his brother Clifford Palmer, and his very special granddaughter Olivia M. Palmer along with several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel 2691 NY 43 at Glass Lake, Averill Park, NY on Sunday 2-5pm. The family requests donations in memory of Richard G. Palmer be made to the Wounded Warrior Project PO Box 758517 Topeka, KS 66675 or the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society 3 Oakland Ave. Albany, NY 12204.
