East Nassau- Robert Emerson Schiller, 80, of Uphams Corners Road, died on Saturday February 10, 2018 at the Stratton VA Medical Center in Albany after a short illness. Born, educated and a lifelong resident of East Nassau, Bob was the son of the late Wilbur C. and Hazel McNine Schiller, step son of the late Eola “Edie” Fallas Schiller and husband for 60 years to Patsy Gillie Schiller. Bob had served in the US Navy from 1955- 1958. He had worked at the former Al-Tech Specialty Steel in Watervliet where he was a mechanic.  Bob had also driven school bus for the Averill Park School District and ARC. Bob and Patsy had run the former Egg and I restaurant in West Sand Lake for a time.
Survivors in addition to his wife include his children Deborah (Phil) Smith, Janet (Bill) Saul, Annette Schiller, Robert E. (Skye) Schiller and Diana (Robert) Childs all of East Nassau, Butch Schiller of Clifton Park and Tracie Schiller of Troy, his sister Betty Croft of VT, 18 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Bob was the brother of the late William, Robert and Ernest “Doc” Bergdoll.
Relatives and friends are invited to call 2-4 p.m. Sunday, February 18 at the Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel 2691 NY 43 at Glass Lake Averill Park followed by a Memorial Service at 4 p.m.
If desired the family suggest donations in memory of Robert E. Schiller may be made to the Hoags Corners Ambulance PO Box 90 East Nassau, NY 12062.
