Nassau- Robert J. Blatt Sr., 83, of Chatham Street, died on Sunday, June 3, 2018 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady after a short illness. Born in Jersey City, NJ, Bob was the son of the late Herbert and Gertrude Foley Blatt Sr. Robert served in the Army during the Korean Conflict and went on to join the Carpenters Union in New Jersey. Bob had resided in the Rensselaer/Columbia County areas since 1969. While working with the Carpenters Union Bob worked on the George Washington Bridge, beside his grandfather and father, the Empire State Plaza and the now Times Union Center in Albany along with other projects. After retiring in 1995, Bob turned to boating as a summer hobby. He docked his boat the Genny Cruiser and later the Harmony at the Hop-O-Nose Marina in Catskill for a number of years. He and his family cruised the Hudson to New York and north to Canada. Bob was an avid Yankees Fan.
Bob was the husband of the late Jean Gunderman Blatt and brother of the late Herbert Batt Jr.
Survivors include his sons Robert J. (Kelli) Blatt Jr. of No. Greenbush and Michael V. (Amy) Blatt of Canaan, NY, his brother Kenneth Blatt of Nassau, his grandchildren Michael, Emma and Leah and his companion of 27 years Eveline Whitney.
