Averill Park-Robert “Bob” Joseph Peake, 63, of Averill Park, NY, peacefully passed away on Thursday, October 28, 2021 at home surrounded by family. Bob Peake is survived by his wife Cathy (Parete) Peake and his son Martin Peake. He is also survived by his brother Terrance (David Ray) Peake, many brother and sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Bob Peake was born at St. Joseph’s Hospital Syracuse in 1957 to the late Robert H. and Joyce Garrahan Peake. He grew up in Liverpool, NY graduating from Liverpool High School in 1976. He went on to receive an associate degree from Onondaga Community College and a Bachelor in Engineering Technology from RIT in Rochester, NY. After graduating he pursued his interests working on 1980s solar projects, acid rain instrumentation at the summit of Whiteface Mountain and at other local high tech firms. He retired in 2016 after 19 years working for the Office of Court Administration’s Technology Division. Bob loved his work.
He also loved bicycling. It was his greatest passion and he never met a bicyclist he didn’t like. He loved the open road - going many miles as fast as possible. He was tough on the bike and even in the latest stages of his disease; you would find Bob on his adaptive three wheel bicycle tooling down the bike path feeling free and content.
His son Marty was Bob’s greatest joy. If you knew Bob, you understood you would hear about Marty’s adventures playing baseball, zip lining, snowboarding, hunting and any other endeavor he pursued. He was a proud and supportive Dad for his favorite boy! Bob also boasted his wife Cathy as his love. He never hesitated telling others how he felt and about the love they shared. This year Cathy and Bob celebrated their 36th wedding anniversary by renewing their vows.
Each week Bob looked forward to his Friday night dinners at the Burden Lake Country Club toasting margaritas with the esteemed Friday night dinner gang. He cherished shenanigans with the family outlaws and the friendships he made with other individuals living with HD. He understood and appreciated the importance of these friendships and family bonds.
Bob Peake endured a long challenging illness. He taught everyone around him resilience, healthy acceptance, and grace. May he now enjoy everlasting peace and happiness in heaven.
