Robert J. Seib

Sand Lake- Robert J. “Papa” Seib, 79, of Walk Road died on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at his residence with his family at his side. Born in Albany and raised in Colonie, Robert was the son of the late Martin W. and Amy Wooding Seib and the beloved husband of Linda Nowacki Seib. Robert had attended the Colonie Schools and had resided in Sand Lake since 1969. Robert had been a mechanic during his working career working for Watkins Spring, Montgomery Wards Automotive, Everett Auto and Armory Auto. He had retired in 2013. In his younger years Robert enjoyed stock car racing being a driver and mechanic on the cars. Robert enjoyed his moment of fame when he appeared in the movie Ironweed. He also was the mechanic on the set the kept the old cars running for the movie. Robert was a tinkerer and a self-proclaimed inventor, he enjoyed crazy adventures with his family including fishing and camping.
Survivors in addition to his wife include his children Julie (Anthony) Pucci of Troy, Jessie Seib of Poestenkill, Robert “Bo” Seib of Averill Park and Skye (Rob) Schiller of East Nassau, a brother William M. (Jean Krause) Seib a sister Marjorie Kopenhoffer both of Colonie and his grandchildren Hailey, Aubrey, Anthony, Tiffany, Angelo, Devin, Cole, Quinn, Quade, Michelle and Johnny and a great granddaughter Braelynn. Robert was the brother of the late Dorothy McGrail.
A Celebration of Robert’s life is planned for in the future.
