Averill Park- Robert Milton Ketchum, 92, of Boylan Road, Glass Lake, passed to the next life on Monday, March 16, 2015 at the Hospice Unit at Samaritan Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Richmond Hill, NY Robert was the son of the late Warren and Charlotte Saunders Ketchum and husband of the late Shirley Carr Ketchum. Bob attended Delaware University where he held the single season Soccer Goal Record, the University of Pennsylvania where he was on the 1st All-American Soccer Team and graduated from St. Lawrence University with a Bachelors Degree in Business. Robert served in the Navy from 1943-1946 and had served on PT Boat 27 at Pearl Harbor. He had continued his naval career by serving in the Naval Reserve until 1959 when he was discharged with the rank of Lieutenant. Bob had resided in the Town of Sand Lake since 1955 and had a 37-year career with General Electric where he was a Purchasing Agent. He had retired in 1983. Bob was an avid Golfer and was a member of the Burden Lake Country Club for over 59 years and was a Club Champion. Bob had served as a Scout Master and was named to the Scout’s Order of the Arrow and was a longtime member of Kiwanis International. Bob was the brother of the late Lt. Franklyn Ketchum US Army who was killed in action in WW II. Survivors include his sons Robert C. (Susan) of Concord, NY, David F. (Valerie) Ketchum of Churchville, NY, Peter C. (Sue) Ketchum of Hancock, NY and Stephen C. (Bitsy) Ketchum of Averill Park, his grandchildren Carrie, Katie, John, Brian, Joe, Dan, Matt, Drew, Josh, Shannon, Ian, Brett, Trevor USN and Teagan, his great grandchildren Dean, Zack, Lincoln and Mason. Robert was the brother in law of James and Donna Carr. Relatives and friends are invited to a Memorial Service 1 p.m.on Tuesday March 24 at the Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel 2691 NY 43 at Glass Lake Averill Park. If desired the family request donations in memory of Robert M.
