Averill Park- Robert “Bob” D. Sweet 86, of Garner Road passed away on August 25, 2025 at St. Peter’s Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after a brief illness. Born on February 19, 1939 in Troy, Bob was the son of the late Matthew and Mildred Brewer Sweet and husband of the late Kathleen “Kitty” Collins Sweet who passed away on May 23. 2025. They married for the first time in 1964 and settled in Poestenkill. After celebrating the bicentennial, they moved the family to southern California for a short time before returning to the booming metropolis of Poestenkill. Bob was raised on Sharp Rd in Wynantskill and in the Albia area of Troy and attended Troy schools. He entered the Air Force in 1960 becoming an aircraft mechanic and was honorably discharged. From Indians and Harley Davidson’s to Triumph’s and Jaguars, to old Buick’s and Packard’s’ and the inevitable procession of Pick-up trucks. He was very creative, had a great sense of humor, a redhead’s temper and a colorful vocabulary.
