Wynantskill- Ruth L. Wheeler, 93, of Whiteview Road died on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at the Samaritan Hospital with her family at her side. Born in North Greenbush and a lifelong resident of Whiteview Road, Ruth was the daughter of the late John and Harriet Roaser Schillinger and wife of the late George G. Wheeler. Ruth was a graduate of the Averill Park High School and had retired from the NYS Audit and Control where she had been a file clerk. Ruth was a member of the First Reformed Church of Wynantskill for over 50 years and was the second female elected to the Consistory. Ruth was a member of the Rensselaer County Home Bureau and had been a poll worker for many years in North Greenbush. She had been a member of the Wynantskill, Sand Lake and Poestenkill Seniors and was also a member of the 27th Division Women’s Auxiliary. Ruth had enjoyed traveling with her late sister Grace. Ruth was the sister of the late Henry Schillinger and Grace Goodermote.
Survivors include her children Ruth M. (late Roy) Teal of Poestenkill, John W. (Prudence) Wheeler of Silverdale, WA and Ann L. (Michael Kumpan) Wheeler of Wynantskill, her grandchildren Karen (Tim) Cronin, David (Michelle) Teal, Brian (Tracie) Teal, Andrew (Joyce) Lanesey, Annmarie Lanesey (Joseph Jr.) Payette, Jacob (Kelli) Wheeler and Rebecca (Eric) Purcell, her great grandchildren, Danilyn, Meghan, Aidan, Connor, Declan, Kara, Zachary, Anthony, Angela, Aubrey, Avery, Charlotte, Declan, Tensley and Lachlan.
Relatives and friends are invited to call at the First Reformed Church of Wynantskill, 413 Main Ave. on Saturday 10 –12 noon followed by a Funeral Service at 12 noon with the Rev. Dawn May Alpaugh pastor officiating. Interment will follow in the Sand Lake Union Cemetery.
