Sand Lake-Sharon M. Benson, 57, of Momrow Road died on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at Samaritan Hospital in Troy under the care of Hospice. Born in Troy, Sharon was the daughter of the late Clarence A. “Mike” and Eleonora Goriup Momrow and the devoted wife of Donald M. Benson. Sharon was a lifelong resident of Sand Lake and was a graduate of the Averill Park High School Class of 1979. Sharon was a graduate of HVCC and had been the owner of Crosstown Funding and Crosstown Properties. In 2005 Sharon went to work for the NYS Dept. of Tax & Finance where she was a manager. Sharon enjoyed candle making, which she sold at area farmers markets, cooking and gardening.  Like her dad Sharon had a passion for NASCAR racing, she enjoyed time at York Beach, ME and was a fan of Lifetime Movies. Sharon was a member of the Sand Lake Board of Assessment and Review.
Survivors in addition to her husband of 30 years include her beloved children Corey R. Benson of Sand Lake and Carlene K. (Andrew Wager) Benson of Averill Park, her sisters Diane (Doug Jr.) Dyer of Melrose, Patricia (Darrell) Dutcher of Brainard, her brother Michael (Danielle) Momrow of Ballston Lake along with several Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces and Nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, August 16 at the Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel 2691 NY 43 at Glass Lake Averill Park followed by a service at 7 p.m.
If desired the family requests donations in memory of Sharon M. Benson may be made to the Community Hospice c/o of St. Peters Hospital Foundation
