Poestenkill- Shirley B. Showers, 90, of Snyder’s Corners Road died on Thursday August 12, 2021 at the Samaritan Hospital after a brief illness. A lifelong resident of Poestenkill, Shirley was a daughter of the late Charles H. and Ruth Swankey Heffner and wife for 70 years to Edward F. Showers. Shirley was a 1949 graduate of the Averill Park High School and had helped with her husbands contracting business along with being a homemaker. Shirley enjoyed the casinos, traveling, shopping and spending time with her family.
Shirley was the sister of the late Clifford, Chester, Victor, John “Jack”, Donald and Arnold Heffner, Lois Castle, and Hazel Toussaint.
Survivors in addition to her husband include her children Ronald E. (Laura) Showers and Jill (Gary) Teal both of Poestenkill, her grandchildren Corrine (Patrick) Bradley, Mellisa Teal, Amanda (Dan) Lynch, Hilary Showers and Kristopher (Heather) Showers, her great grandchildren Patrick, Emily, Libby, Kendra, Cora, Hazel, Carter and Colton and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call 4-7 pm on Thursday August 19, 2021 at the Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel 2691 NY 43 at Glass Lake Averill Park.
The family suggest donations in memory of Shirley B. Showers may be made to the Poestenkill Fire Dept. PO Box 14 Poestenkill, NY 12140.
