​West Stephentown- Stephen E. Winne, 65, of South Road, packed up his fishing gear for the last time on Monday July 18, 2022 and went to that forever fishing spot. Stephen had been a patient at Samaritan Hospital and had been fighting a longtime illness. Born in Albany, Stephen was the son of the late Eugene R. and Donna M. Newkirk Winne and the beloved husband of Belva Smith Winne. Stephen was raised in the East Greenbush and Castleton area and was a graduate of Maple Hill High School. As a child Stephen was one of the first children to have open heart surgery at Albany Med. He was a Master Carpenter and had spent time in Florida building condos. Stephen was last working at the Deer Valley Apartments in Guilderland before his health forced him to retire. Stephen was all about fishing and hanging with his friends Eric and Chuck along with others.
Stephen was the father of the late Mikki Smith and brother of the late Michael Winne.
Survivors in addition to his wife include the son Stephen never had, his best buddy forever, his grandson Devin S. Guill, his daughters Angela Guill of West Stephentown, his son Randall Butler of W. Virginia, his sisters Lorraine Vooris of Nassau and Karen Knefley of Clifton Park and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call 4-7 pm on Friday, July 22, 2022 at the Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel 2691 NY 43 at Glass Lake Averill Park.
