Poestenkill - Suzanne M. “Suzy” Brod, 68, of Brod Acres, passed away at home on Monday, October 2, 2017. She was born on September 17, 1949, in Troy, New York, the daughter of the late Arthur F. and Louise (Krashier) Brod. Suzy was a 1967 graduate of Averill Park High School, and earned a B.S. in Science from Empire State College. She was a distinguished management employee of NYNEX and its predecessor firms for some 25 years prior to early retirement. Throughout retirement Suzy (aka “Cruizintbirds”) pursued her passion for Ford Thunderbirds by collecting and showing her fleet, played many rounds of golf, spectated at major golf tournaments such as The Masters, Ryder Cup and President’s Cup, and rooted for the New York Yankees, the Dallas Cowboys and the RPI Engineers hockey team. Suzy also frequented countless antique shows as either vendor (“SB Collectibles”) or buyer augmenting her personal collections. More recently, she devoted her evenings to ushering at Capital District performance venues, including The Egg, The Palace, Troy Music Hall and Sand Lake Center for the Arts. She is survived by her brother, Art, of Easton, her niece Alysan Mills (Brod) Bowers, her best friend, Judy Ellers, and numerous cousins. Calling hours will be from 10 a.m. to 12 noon on Saturday, October 7, at the Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel, 2691 NY 43, at Glass Lake, Averill Park.
