North Greenbush- Warren G. Sheldon Jr. of Rte. 43 died on Sunday, August 11, 2013, at St. Peters Hospital after a short illness. Born on August 12, 1936 in Niles, OH. Warren was the son of the late Warren G. Sheldon Sr. and Ruth M. Wortman Goodhart and husband for 56 years Mary E. Baker Sheldon. Warren’s family moved to the area in 1951 from Ohio and settled in Rensselaer. He had served in the Army from 1956-1958 completing basic training at Fort Dix, NJ and went to Fort Campbell, KY for airborne training with the 11th Airborne and was then reassigned to the 101st Airborne where he spent time in Korea. Warren and Mary moved their family to Rte. 43 in 1968. Warren had worked for the former Normanskill Dairy and Crowley Foods for 25 years where he was a chief engineer and then had worked in the maintenance department of the former Cohoes Hospital. From 1986-1992 Warren worked for Duren Sales installing and repairing car washes. Warren had also worked with his son, Glenn, owner of Magnum Technical Services in Titusville, FL. building and servicing car washes around the country and enjoying semi retirement. Warren was a long time member of the Odd Fellows, Interlochan Lodge #641 in Averill Park, was a member of the Salem United Methodist Church in West Sand Lake and a former member of the First Baptist Church in Rensselaer. He enjoyed snowmobiling and motorcycles and visiting the casinos. Warren was the brother of the late Shirley J. and Harry D. Sheldon.Survivors in addition to his wife include his son Glenn A. (Julie) Sheldon of Titusville, FL., his daughter Pamela M. Sheldon of North Greenbush, his step mother Grace Darrigo Sheldon of Rensselaer, his sisters Elsie M. Brady of Rensselaer and Jennie L. (Clifton “Skip”) Mercer of Latham, his brothers Vincent M. and William H. (Barbara) Sheldon both of Rensselaer, his grandchildren Samantha R.and Dylan J. Sheldon and Danielle Taylor all of Florida. Warren’s family wishes to thank the staff at St. Peter’s Hospital CCU & ICU for their loving care. Funeral Service Wednesday 7 p.m. at the Salem United Methodist Church 349 Shaver Road, West Sand Lake NY. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at the CHURCH on Wednesday 4-7p.m. prior to the service. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, East Greenbush. If desired donations in memory of Warren G.
