Poestenkill- Warren G. Mortimer, 98, of Empire Drive, passed away at his home on Tuesday, June 17, 2025 with his family at his bedside. Born in Warsaw, NY, Warren was the son of the late John P. and Ina Sparks Mortimer and husband of the late Doris Reckner Mortimer.

At the age of 17, Warren enlisted in the US Navy serving for 2 years. He then enlisted in the US Marine Corp and was Honorably Discharged in 1968. He had been stationed all over the world and saw action in 3 different wars, WWII, Korea and Vietnam. The family settled in Poestenkill in 1967. Warren worked for the Town of Poestenkill for a time before becoming a letter carrier in the City of Rensselaer which was his final job before retirement.

Warren was a life member of the Poestenkill Fire Company and was a driver of both fire trucks and the ambulance. He was a member and past commander of the Sullivan Jones VFW Post in Poestenkill and a former Boy Scout leader and Twin Town Little League coach. Warren enjoyed many years of bowling with different bowling leagues at the Hi-Way Bowl in Wynantskill. Warren was a longtime member of the Sand Lake Baptist Church and was a past Trustee and Deacon. He was a season ticket holder and proud fan of the Valley Cats.

Warren was predeceased by 2 brothers and 3 sisters.

Survivors include his sons Gary (Kim) Mortimer of Eustis, FL; Wayne (Jo-Anne) Mortimer of Averill Park; Brian (Karen) Mortimer of Brunswick and his daughter Gail Mortimer of Wyoming, NY, a sister Mary Mortimer of East Greenbush, sister-in-law Sally Mortimer of Four Oakes, CA along with several grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, June 24, 2025 from 4-7 pm.

Funeral Service 11 am on Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at the Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel 2691 NY 43 at Glass Lake Averill Park.

Interment Evergreen Cemetery, Wynantskill, NY.

The family suggest donations in memory of Warren G. Mortimer be made to the Sand Lake Baptist Church PO Box 157 Averill Park, NY 12018 or the Poestenkill Fire Company PO Box 14 Poestenkill, NY 12140.
