Averill Park- Robert C. Wagner, 68, of Rte 43 died on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at the Evergreen Commons Nursing Facility after an extended illness. Born in Troy, Bob was the son of the late Clarence and Hattie Feathers Wagner and husband for 43 years to Brooke Nietzel Wagner. Bob was a lifelong resident of Averill Park and was a 1965 graduate of the Averill Park High School and he had attended HVCC. Bob joined the apprentice program at the Watervliet Arsenal and started his career there in 1968.For most of his career he had been a supervisor in the Tubes Branch and had retired in 1995.
Bob was a life member and past chief of the Averill Park – Sand Lake Fire Co. Bob was the chief at the time when on a frigid cold February morning the call went out that the Lakeview Restaurant was on fire, a major fire for the Fire Company and surrounding fire companies.
Bob was also a fire commissioner for a number of years. He was a Life Member of the East Worcester Fish & Game Club and had been treasurer for 14 years and Bob had also served on the board of the Sand Lake Union Cemetery and had been president. Bob enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Bob was the brother of the late Carol Wagner.
Survivors in addition to his wife include his children Carla J. Wagner of Averill Park and John C. Wagner of Lansingburgh, his grandsons Gregory Wagner, Joshua, Kyle and Matthew Snyder and his faithful canine friend Lady.
Funeral Monday June 13, 2016 10 a.m. at the Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel 2691 NY 43at Glass Lake Averill Park, NY.
Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at the funeral chapel on Sunday 2-5 p.m.
Interment Sand Lake Union Cemetery
