Averill Park-Thomas John Coffey, 72, of Glass Lake, passed away on Sunday, July 11, 2021 at St. Peter’s Hospice Inn. Born in Troy, NY, Tom was the son of the late John Joseph Coffey and Margaret McNary Coffey Regan and step son of Edward Francis Regan.  He grew up in Averill Park and graduated from Averill Park High School. Tom was a talented trumpet player and received his B.A. in Music Performance from Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. While living in Boston, Tom met and married his wife Linda DeChristopher Coffey.  Upon returning to Averill Park, Tom opened a music store, Sound Music, and then later had a career with the NY State Department of Corrections. Tom was active in his community and served for many years as an EMT with the Sand Lake Volunteer Ambulance.  For several years, Tom played trumpet with the Yankee Doodle Band, the oldest, continuous American Legion Band in the country.  Upon retiring in 2012, Tom enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He was a member of the Brunswick HOG Chapter, the Patriot Guard and enjoyed participating in group rides, trips, and great BBQs with his many friends from the group.
Tom is survived by his wife, his children Antoinett Dufort (Jon) of Syracuse, NY and John Joseph Coffey (Denise Hart) of Brunswick, NY., his grandchildren Jackson Anthony and Margaret “Maggie” Pearl Dufort of Syracuse, NY and Thomas John Coffey of Brunswick, NY.
Funeral 11 am Friday, July 16 at St. Henry’s Church 39 Old Rte. 66 Averill Park where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered followed by burial in St. Henry’s Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited and may also call 4-7 pm on Thursday, July 15 at the Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel, 2691 NY Highway 43, at Glass Lake Averill Park, NY 12018.
