Niskayuna/Averill Park- William C. Link, 86, of Glen Eddy a longtime resident of First Dike Road in Averill Park died on Sunday, January 9, 2022 at the Ellis Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Schenectady with his wife at his bedside. Born in Hudson, Bill was the son of the late William Clifton and Lillian Lake Link and the beloved husband of Jeannette Scism Link, who passed on Monday, April 11, 2022. Bill served in the Navy after high school and then attended HVCC, State University at Oswego and the State University at Albany where he earned his master’s degree. Bill had a long career at HVCC where he taught Computer Programing. He and Jeanette had resided in Averill Park from 1959-2021. Bill was a former Cub Scout leader and a former member of the Sand Lake Kiwanis. Bill had a 1959 Sunbeam which he lovingly restored and he and Jeannette enjoyed riding around the countryside in. For a number of years Bill and Jeannette spent winters in Port St. Lucie, Florida.
Bill was the father of the late Wendelin Link and William C. Link III, and brother of the late Dwight Link and father in law of the late Eric Wolcott.
Survivors in addition to his wife include his daughter Susan (Douglas Pataky) Link of Gainesville, Fl., his grandchildren William C. Link IV, Matthew Link, Todd and Jerad Wolcott and Allison Pataky, his granddaughter Ora Plude-Link and his daughter in law Sandra Link Wolcott.
Relatives and friends are invited to call 10-11 am on Saturday April 23, 2022 at the Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel 2691 NY 43 at Glass Lake Averill Park followed by a service for both Bill and Jeannette at 11 am.
Interment will follow at the Sand Lake Union Cemetery where Naval Honors will be given for Bill’s Naval Service.
